Our Story
Nancy Harte, the founder of Bean Control Bookkeeping, started bookkeeping as a career in 1990. Born in Chicago she discovered a love of and aptitude for numbers and math very early in life. After a job as a bank teller and then customer service manager she paired that aptitude with a high interest in people and how to help them achieve their goals. Took a class in accounting and then went right to work. Learning about and working in bookkeeping, receivables, payables, and financial planning full time for over 30 years now.
The most common first question I get is “what services do you provide?” My answer is always, “the help you need and want.” One client only needs someone to track and handle payables. Another may need someone to clean up past bookkeeping so it is more usable and then keep it up to date. Yet another requires help in getting not only their books in order but using them as a tool for planning and business management. I’ve been a Bookkeeper, Payroll Officer, Accounting Manager, and Chief Financial Officer.
I’ve helped that person who just needed some order put in to then realize their income was more than their expenses and they would be fine. (Happy dance!) All the way to the other end of the scale of helping a company through an IRS audit and putting in a system ensuring they could be certain of their financial position and books from here on out. (End result - Happy dance!)
Over the last few years, Nancy has expanded and added more people to the team.
